good morning, america. this morning -- state of emergency. new video of the moment right before a fearsome tornado touched down. thousands are now homeless, but this morning, some astonishing survival stories, including a 20-month-old found in a field. her name, baby angel. ginger zee leads our live team coverage. shocking mix-up. kids given the wrong drug by a major drugstore chain. instead of fluoride they were given chemotherapy-like pills. so how this could happen? "gma" investigates. double life. on campus she was a rising star, president of the student government, then came the arrest for robbing a bank.

how did this self-proclaimed dork hide her secret life of crime? and she's back. troubled actress lindsay lohan stages yet another comeback. this time on late-night tv, but can joking about her infamous brushes with the law, really save her tarnished public image? just heartbreaking. this morning, to see more images of devastation in the south and the midwest. we'll be live from the disaster zones in just a moment. also ahead -- chock up another victory for mitt romney. he's won the caucuses in washingt washington, his fourth in a row, leading up to the super tuesday showdown in just two days and our very own george stephanopoulos will be here coming up. >> mitt has some momentum.

it continues to be an interesting race. speaking of politics, a rare and surprising apology from rush limbaugh overnight. the conservative host said that he was sorry. for insulting a female law student about her sex life. some are calling this a nonapology, however, and the question, will it be enough to stop his sponsors from jumping ship? but we're going to start this morning with the frantic search for survivors with states of emergency in large swath of america this morning. where nearly 100 tornadoes. once-thriving neighborhoods now debris fields. this morning -- the death toll stands at 37. in five states. however, we're hearing some amazing survival stories. we've got team coverage this morning led by abc news meteorologist ginger zee. ginger, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning to you, dan, and good morning, everyone. i am in the heart of the

destruction in what was an ef-4 tornado, what was a gas station, twisted all over, come with me this way, i want to show you what used to be a commuter lot, cars now a graveyard. this tornado went 52 miles from holland, indiana, all of the way into ohio. that's 52 miles where we're finding stories of survival. new video of that massive twister as it careens towards this small town. we know now that it was a powerful ef-4, packing winds of 175 miles per hour, and in these new images, the town just moments after impact. >> we just had a huge tornado come through. we're in henryville, indiana. >> reporter: the view from the air, shocking. where there were whole neighborhoods, there's now nothing. >> three older brothers.

lot of memories. >> you work hard for something. you lose it in ten minutes. >> reporter: across this town the search for survivors continue. if there's one common theme in this community, it's the image of yellow school buses tossed everywhere. he drove school buses every day. but this friday it was different. >> tornado weather, you can't do anything about it. it's going to do what it wants. >> reporter: did you have a feeling? >> yeah, it wasn't good. >> reporter: green set out to finish his bus route, but with three kids left, including his daughter, he knew that the tornado was close, so he rushed them to cover in a church basement. >> we heard the wind whistling. >> i could see the tornado spinning right outside the window. >> reporter: after the tornado,

the bus was gone. and from all of the rubble, one amazing story of survival, a home completely destroyed, four members of that family killed, but found in the field, alive, their 20-month-old baby, her name, baby angel. for family and friends the pain is still so raw. >> it's very hard to imagine that it all of them. >> reporter: but baby angel is giving hope to so many in desperate need of it. when you have pockets of damage like this, you're going to have downed powers lines. and officials are saying, please take the extra care, when you're getting back to your home for those survivors to be extra careful, because you never know what you're going to find in this. we'll have more coming up. but, get this, this area, henryville, including places in kentucky, now under a winter weather advisory. back to you, bianna. >> the last thing they need there, ginger.

>> all right, thank you. we're just learning how bad western kentucky was hit, the death toll there has risen to 20 and a state of emergency is in effect. the national guard has been called in as well. kentucky's governor said that the hardest-hit areas look like a bomb went off. abc's matt gutman is there with more. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, bianna, from the heart of a devastated west liberty, as you mentioned martial law just starting to lift here, the scale of the damage, this was the liberty city -- west liberty library, that was the city hall just built. the police department. officials telling us nearly every single building on main street will have to be condemned in a tornado that one resident said was a town can i recall. this morning -- new video, a woman trying to pray this funnel cloud away from west liberty, kentucky. >> take it away from this town.

>> reporter: it was not to be. with the twister plowing right through main street, one of dozens in kentucky ring through 19 counties, killing 20, 300 injured. some of the worst of the devastation here. all residents describing it the same way. >> war zone. >> war zone. yeah. >> reporter: this town's institutions wrecked. the police department, the library, city hall, buildings which stood for decades. mountains of debris, so much destruction, the state hasn't been able to compile the statistics or count the homeless. folks like robin williams and her granddaughters. we found them at the elementary school turned red cross shelter. >> we heard that it was coming. but it actually came quicker than we thought. >> reporter: the williams and the hundred-plus expected to spend the night here are now

called residence. >> i have a friend that i'm concerned about, i haven't heard from her or her daughter and nobody can tell me nothing. >> reporter: they could be here for weeks. and then, just moments later, she and her daughters spot one of the people they were looking for, a neighbor. an embrace and more tears of gratitude. >> we lost everything but we gained our family. >> reporter: bianna, west liberty has been a ghost town, most of the residents have been evacuated. today, they hope to come back in and assess the damage. we talked to so many of them, they said, they don't need water, food or shelter right now, what they need is help removing all of this debris. it is everywhere. they need all of the help they can get. they say they don't have the capacity to get all of this. >> all right, matt, thank you.

and if you would like to can go to goodmorningamerica.com to find information about relief agencies. >> that does it for our tornado coverage this morning. time now for politics. it's your voice, your vote, t-minus two days until super tuesday. mitt romney, the on-again, off-again front-runner is heading into the big day with a big head of steam. after winning the washington state caucuses overnight, with 38%. david kerley has the latest. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, dan. the numbers showed it there. romney trounced rick santorum in washington state who leads in some national polls, for romney this is the mighty most, the momentum going into the biggest day on the calendar so far. >> get out and vote on tuesday! thank you so much. >> reporter: if it seems that the candidates are moving a little quicker it's because they have a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time left until super tuesday. yes, super tuesday. when voters in ten states go to the polls. more delegates delivered in one

night than in the entire campaign. what is a candidate to do in just two days? lots of talking. >> i will never apologize for the greatness of this country. >> reporter: and lots of traveling. ron paul thinks he's strong out west. newt gingrich, way ahead in his state of georgia, is actually home at his virginia home, then will bounce into tennessee. romney hits gingrich territory. ohio. for santorum it's tennessee, okay, and then ohio, that is the big prize. it's a swing state where romney could quiet his critics. >> obviously if i got the nod from the people of ohio that would send a big statement. >> reporter: and santorum has a problem in ohio -- he didn't complete all of the paperwork and is at risk of being ineligible for more than a quarter of the delegates. romney campaign pounced -- >> that basic organizational test that you're going to have to have to battle president is a

test that rick santorum and his campaign have flunked. >> reporter: so, santorum did you flunk? it's the battle ground state of ohio where both romney and santorum finished this mad dash to super tuesday. bian bianna. >> just two days away. let's bring in george stephanopoulos for more insight. can you explain the santorum delegate issue? in ohio, how big of a blow is this for him? >> it's a pretty big blow. he didn't file enough slates in the state. no matter what, he's ineligible for 18 of the 71 delegates. even if he wins, as long as romney is close, he'll get the delegates in the state of ohio. the way this is set up, santorum is not on the ballot in virginia. if romney wins his home state, virginia, idaho, vermont, he'll win the most delegates on tuesday. no matter what.

he's already has twice as many as santorum. this will put him in a place where it's almost impossible for the others to catch up. >> you mentioned the others. you have newt gingrich on the show this morning, he said his focus was going to be on super tuesday, if he doesn't do well is this the end of his candidacy? >> he has to win georgia. he'll have a hard time convincing republican voters going forward that he's anything but a regional candidate. he's only won in south carolina. last state contest he's done no better than fifth. he has an uphill fight. >> talking about fight, the issue of iran, whether or not the president has a tough enough stance on the iran, the president will be meeting with israeli prime minister tomorrow. will he budge with from all of the pressure? >> the president will be giving a major speech on it today as well. he gave a speech to jeff goldberg who's going to be a guest on "this week." he said, i don't bluff. israelis and the iranians know

that i don't bluff. we mean what we say. he's gone a little bit further in threatening military action. we'll try to convince the prime minister more time for the sanctions to work. >> a big question, you'll have a lot more answers on this "this week" this morning. george, thanks so much george goes one-on-one with newt gingrich and obama campaign senior adviser david axelrod. of course, be sure to watch george and diane sawyer throughout the night on super tuesday. new developments in a pharmacy foul-up that's infur rating parents. how could this happen? abc's mark greenblatt is here with the story. mark, good morning you. >> reporter: new this morning, cvs is telling abc news it doesn't know for sure how the drug mix-up happened. it's still under investigation

at this hour. but they tell me that the problem did go on for at least two months because the cancer-fighting pills got mixed in with their fluoride pills. parents still remain on edge. in this small town of chatham, new jersey. >> it is screwed up. >> reporter: parents expressed outrage and concerned. >> i'm just worried, yes. >> reporter: because many who came to this cvs on main street, thought they were picking up fluoride pills for their children's teeth, but were bringing home tamoxifen. a power drug to fight breast cancer. >> it's similar to cheem therapy and lot toxic than a fluoride vitamin. >> something that's very disheartening to see that happen. who knows what else they did wrong. >> reporter: for its part cvs said in a statement -- we're deeply sorry for the

mistake that occurred at our chatham, new jersey, pharmacy. beginning last week, we have contacted or have left messages for every parent whose child was dispensed a fluoride pill in the past 60 days. and they say, most of the families we have spoken to did not indicate that their children had received any incorrect pills. >> if i would have known that, there's no way i would have been here right now. >> reporter: it's important to note that we have no reports of documented illness as a result of the switch-up. it appears that it's limited to that cvs in chatham. dan and bianna, one very troubled mom who didn't go to those websites, said this morning, she kept made kids take her pills even after complaints of a strange taste.

it turned out to be tamoxifen. time for the other headlines this morning. ron claiborne is away. we'll go back to abc's paula faris. >> for the second straight day, are sure you wanted to invite me back? >> absolutely. rush limbaugh has made an apology. he apologized on saturday to a georgetown law student. who he called a slut and prostitute after her capitol hill testimony on contraception. he said that he did not mean a personal attack on sandra fluke. and an upstate man has been arrested for threatening to kill president obama, the secret service intercepted two messages that he posted on a white house message board on friday. in addition to the president, the 33-year-old also allegedly threatened to kill elementary school students. frightening there. the first victim of the

school shooting in chardon, ohio, was laid to rest on saturday. hundreds gathering for the funeral of 16-year-old daniel parmertour. services for the two other victims will be this week. in poland at least 15 people, including one american, were killed after two express trains collided late last night. rescue workers are still trying to pull survivors from among the wreckage. maintenance work was being done on the tracks shortly before that accident. and finally, could wedding belles in madonna's future again? the singer is reportedly considering a proposal from her 24-year-old boyfriend. he's said to pop the question three weeks ago. she's deliberating. the twice-married madonna said that she would never do the match. she's 29 years old than him and

to do his business, google street view and now his version of watering the plants has gone viral and his lawyer said that he's now an object of ridicule in his small village. it's combination of random snapshots has made for many internet sensations. a recent unwitting story is this miami woman caught in the buff. in the original nothing was blurred out. using these nifty car cameras, google street view captures not just people's neighborhoods but all parts of their lives. there are entire internet sites devoted to finding nude and even flashers. other sites dedicated to the sites, folks using public bathrooms when they're not any. and buffet of alleged crimes, burglary, drug deals and crack, way too much crack. not everyone's happy about what they see. bob told the daily mail that

washington state's presidential caucuses on saturday. it was his fourth victory in the row, giving him momentum with super tuesday's ten contests just two days away. and russians are heading to the polls today to vote for president, but there's little doubt about the outcome. vladimir putin is expected to return to the top job, after four years as prime minister. and finally, saturday was the ceremonial start to the iditarod dog race. now, the race officially starts today with 66 mushers and their sled dog teams attempting the 1,000-mile trek across alaska. i'm going out a limb to predict the fastest dogs on the fastest leg will win. >> very bold, very bold. i want to know why do some of the dogs wear sweaters and others don't? >> to each its own. all right, time now for the

weather, we turn to ginger zee, good morning, ginger. good morning, paula, good morning, everyone. i wanted to show you a little bit more of the destruction that we found here in henryville, indiana, the tornado, now rated ef-4, this was a gas station just east of that highway. the tornado comes from the southwest and it rushes all over the field, blowing this gas station into the field. if you can see those trees, just beyond those hedges of trees is henryville high school. you know, seeing it in person, after you storm chased it forever, it's still amazing, the tree here, all of the bark taken from it, a quarter way up. it never ceases to amaze me. let's look at the forecast because this system, this cold front, is finally getting out into the atlantic, rain still in
